Mitchell West

Dr. Mitchell West is an Obstetrician Gynecologist who practices in northwest Oklahoma City at Lakeside Women’s Hospital. He is an Oklahoma native and was born and raised in Claremore, OK. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. He subsequently graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center with a master’s degree in Medical Sciences before returning to medical school in Oklahoma City at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his training as a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Upon his return to Oklahoma City, he established his practice and connected with DSACO. His initial inspiration to empower and promote the Down Syndrome community stems from his late aunt Barbara “Suzanne” Farley, who was born with Down syndrome, and from his late grandmother Barbara Hansford Farley who advocated on her behalf. His involvement with DSACO and seeing the joy from self-advocates has continued to stir him to advocate on their behalf.
