Volunteer Opportunity: Kylee’s Kitchen
Kylee’s Kitchen is DSACO’s most popular program. The first four Fridays of each month we hold
Kylee’s Kitchen from 6-8 p.m for teens and adults with Down syndrome. Participants cook a full meal and eat with their friends. The classes are meant to teach independent living skills while fostering friendships. The classes take place at the DSACO office.
Each Friday the kitchen needs 10 volunteers. Each volunteer is matched one-on-one with a participant to help him or her through that week’s recipe. After cooking and eating, participants and volunteers play games and socialize together.
Each volunteer will be tasked with helping their participant and assisting with kitchen cleaning. Volunteers commit to 2.5 hours, from 5:45 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, and have a positive, patient attitude!
